2021 Emmy Awards Nominations - Here Are All The Interesting Details
The 2021 Emmy Awards nominations released

After an endless wait, it seems, the 2021 Emmy Awards nominations are out now. Popular Star Wars show, The Mandalorian, and Netflix’s latest season of The Crown have managed to get the highlight. WandaVision, the limited series from MCU, received 23 series nominations while Ted Lasso scored 20 nominations.

Australian Nomination

Though Yvonne Strahovski from Australia got a nomination for The Handmaid’s Tale, Joel Edgerton and Nicole Kidman did not get a nomination for their roles in The Undoing and The Underground Railroad in 2021 Emmy Awards nominations.

The Clear Winners

According to 2021 Emmy Awards nominations, the clear winners are the streaming services, as people who were stuck at home due to the pandemic have started to depend on streaming services. HBO and HBO Max won 130 nominations, while Netflix got 129 and Disney+ received 71. This is the first time that the top three shows, The Crown, The Mandalorian, and WandaVision, were not even broadcast.

Disney is doing particularly well as two of its shows, The Mandalorian and WandaVision, have done extremely well in 2021 Emmy Awards nominations.

However, one of the most popular shows of Disney Plus, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, did not manage to do well. It was empty-handed in all major categories, even though it successfully changed our idea of what a superhero should be like.

The Losers

The 2021 Emmy Awards nominations make it clear that the broadcasters are losing the race. Only HBO and NBC (with its Peacock service) are trying to mark an already saturated market with big brands like Disney+, Apple TV, Amazon Prime, Hulu, and Netflix. So, the broadcasters need to up their game if they wish to survive in a digital world.

The Loser Who Won

Lovecraft Country was cancelled by HBO recently. The show that revolves around racism as well as horror movie monsters and is set in the 1950s, had just one season. It is a loser that has won 18 nominations.

The 73rd Emmy Awards- 2021 Emmy Awards will be presented in Los Angeles and will be broadcast on Sep 20, Australian time.
