A Proper Grooming Routine for the Proper Man

The ladies love a well-groomed gentleman.

Being someone who has been down the road of being a virgin, to undergoing the journey of getting my confidence, getting the girls, and now being happily married. I can definitely attest that looking good means feeling good. Don’t get me wrong, I’m no Brad Pitt, but you really don’t have to be an icon to be taken seriously and get good attention. If you want to go about reinventing your style and letting your natural charm shine through, you will first need a good grooming routine as a foundation.

It’s nothing fancy I assure you. You just need to focus on something, stay on the path and keep at it. Stick to this grooming routine and your hygiene will match those nice clothes you will wear.

Clean up

The soap you use for your ol’ bean bags isn’t necessarily appropriate for your handsome mug. Instead, you’ll want a lighter, natural cleanser that won’t strip your skin of natural oils, ensuring you keep all the good stuff.

Exfoliate

You need an exfoliant that sloughs away dead cells and softens the skin, eliminating deep-rooted gunk. And you only do it twice a week – anymore you’ll be removing too much. While some exfoliants rely on microbeads – small plastic balls that are bad for the environment – buy a natural alternative that uses friendlier biodegradable grains. Mother Nature would be proud.

Moisturize

Yes, I know how it sounds but men need to moisturize the face and neck too. You need to moisturise regularly to keep skin smooth, clear and refreshed. Not to mention this will avoid irritation, and flaking especially for bearded men. As usual, all-natural is the way to go. Not only will prevent a breakout of spots or rashes, but it’s easily absorbed and just plain feels better.

Eye cream

Now not everyone needs this, but if you have dark areas around your eyes, eyebags, or wrinkles you’d want to take care of it instead of looking like a goon. You don’t need much, either. Just a few dabs a day can keep skin healthy and firm, since skin is thinner around the eye and therefore more vulnerable to the elements.

Smell good

Now that your grooming routine has you all fresh and looking sharp, the ladies will start noticing you. So you definitely want to smell the part for those close encounters. The simple rule for choosing your cologne is to go lighter for summer, and richer for winter. After that it’s up to you and your trusty schnoz. Just remember that you want to your scent to stimulate, not sting. Keep it to just a spritz or two onto dry skin, before you get dressed.

Following through your grooming routine is what separates the beta from the alpha males. Take an extra few minutes out of your time to become the latter, it’s all it takes.
