After Tiger King, Cops to Track Lewis’ Disappearance Again
There’s definitely more to all of this than meets the eye
Tiger King’s Carole Baskin is a multi-talented individual who loves big cats. Interestingly, she is also a person of interest in a real-life case of her husband’s disappearance. Her husband was Jack Donald “Don” Lewis, a Florida multimillionaire who ran a wildlife sanctuary with Baskin until 1997 when he disappeared suddenly.
Since that day, Tiger King’s Carole Baskin has denied playing a role in her husband’s disappearance. She talked about this on a blog in which she wrote that filmmakers focus on “unsavoury lies”.
After the rising popularity of the Tiger King, a Florida sheriff has decided to seek tips regarding the cold case.
Hillsborough County Sheriff, Chad Chronister tweeted his intentions on Twitter on Mar 30 when he wrote: “Since Netflix and #Covid19 #quarantine has made #TigerKing all the rage, I figured it was a good time to ask for new leads.”
Chronister also organized a press conference and admitted that the department had received about six tips a day regarding the case, but only a few were substantive. Talking about new charges or evidence, he said “There’s just no real charges or evidence leading to probable cause. That still holds true, [but] we are hoping that changes the more people watch this show.”
People who watched Tiger King on Netflix will know that Baskin and Lewis ran the wildlife sanctuary in Tampa when he disappeared, and she reported the same. His van was found at a nearby airport and Baskin shared with the authorities that he planned to transport cars to Costa Rica on the evening before he disappeared.
Chronister also unveiled during the Press Conference that Baskin had declined a polygraph test when the investigators were looking at her. She did that because her attorney told her not to do it as a polygraph test couldn’t prevent her from being charged or exit the investigation. The case is still open, and she has not faced any charges yet.
Tiger King – Netflix
The story of Tiger King revolves around whether Baskin was really responsible for Lewis’s disappearance or not. Many people, including Lewis’ first wife and daughters, suspected her. Even Joe Exotic, the owner of Big Cat Park in Oklahoma, voiced that Baskin was responsible for the disappearance.
Talking about the case that has got media attention due to Tiger King’s release, Chronister said
“I can’t even begin to describe how complicated this case is. Everyone had their own theory.”
