Another “Decimation” for Marvel Fans: Netflix Cuts Marvel Shows

Disintegrated like the other shows.

The fans of the Marvel shows weren’t yet recovered from the fact that Netflix had eliminated Daredevil, Luke Cage and Iron Fist when the news broke out that more cuts were being planned. This time the fans of these shows have to bid farewell, possibly a teary-eyed one to two more popular shows, Jessica Jones and The Punisher.

The latter was a kind of standalone series which tied the rest of the Marvel Universe. The current season of the show is expected to be it’s last. In contrast, Jessica Jones will return for a final run before bidding goodbye to the fans.

The reason for cancellations of Marvel shows seems to be because of the fact that Disney is planning to unveil Disney+, a streaming platform owned by Disney that will broadcast only high-quality shows. It is a probability that the shows which are being cancelled right now will be brought back via Disney+. It was hinted when a lead actor for the show, The Punisher stated that the viewers would get to see more of Frank Castle, one way or the other.

It is a fact that Netflix needs to pay money to produce Marvel shows, but the IP is not owned by them. It is believed that when Disney+ starts airing Marvel shows, the Marvel series that are on Netflix will probably serve as de-facto advertising for those shows.

All in all, it can be said that though the fans will probably not see some of the Marvel shows cancelled by Netflix on that streaming platform, it is very likely those shows will make a come-back on Disney+. If that happens, it will give a good start to Disney+ as the loyal fans of the Marvel shows will switch to Disney+ for their entertainment. As far as the loyal fans of Netflix are concerned, they might have to be content with shows like the Umbrella Academy.

Right now, the writers of the shows like The Punisher and Jessica Jones are wondering how to incorporate the deaths and highly probable resurrection of 50 percent of the planet.
