It seems like Apple has not given up on its plan to release a couple of foldable iPhone models, even if they will be arriving approximately five years after news of their concepts was first reported.

According to reliable source,

MacRumors

, two folding iPhone designs have passed their durability tests at the Foxconn factory in Shenzhen, China. One of the foldable iPhones was apparently similar to Samsung’s Galaxy Z Flip and the other design features two screens connected by a hinge, which might alleviate any worries about the creasing or cracking display issue with repeated use. (In case you were worried,

according to tech analyst Jon Prosser

, the hinged model doesn’t mean the foldable iPhone looks like two different screens connected together but rather, when extended the display is apparently seamless.)

Conversations concerning concepts of foldable smartphones first started circulating in 2017. Past reports suggested that Apple was aiming for a release date last year but clearly, it didn’t happen. Now it’s being reported that the new foldable iPhone models could release next year or 2023.

Stay tuned as more foldable iPhone updates to follow.
