After many hiccups and delays, the Aston Martin Valkyrie is now ready for the track. Back in 2016, this car was unveiled as a concept vehicle. Originally, it was scheduled for 2019. However, now the vehicle is available for deliveries to customers.

The Aston Martin Valkyrie is a track-only vehicle with only 150 examples that are built at the Gaydon factory. And it is not surprising that it isn’t cheap either. For instance, the price of the vehicle starts at $AU4.3 million.

According to reports, all the standard variants with hardtops have been sold already. However, the convertible variant has not entered production yet and is set to enter in 2022. The vehicle features a Cosworth V12 petrol engine with a 6.5-liter capacity. Other than that, it also comes with an electric motor capable of sending a total of 865kW/900Nm to the car’s rear wheels. For that, it uses a seven-speed automated manual transmission with a single clutch.

Due to these specifications, the Aston Martin Valkyrie can go from 0 to 100 km/h in only 2.5 seconds. With that, it also achieves a top speed of 402 km/h. This makes it too fast for the roads. And hence, the vehicle is only restricted to the tracks.

Regarding this, Tobias Moers, the CEO of Aston Martin, stated, “It is an immensely proud moment for us to complete our first-ever hypercar.” He further added, “The Aston Martin Valkyrie program has tested everyone who has worked on it to the limit, but the commitment to the dream has produced a truly incredible car, a Formula One car for the road.”

The vehicle first made a debut publicly at the Goodwood Speed Festival. Though, at low speed, the vehicle broke down and had to be towed from the event.

Over 2000 hours have been spent building each model before testing it at the Silverstone racetrack. Overall, bringing this vehicle to life took almost half a decade. Hence, the Aston Martin Valkyrie is a show of brilliant engineering and fine skills.
