Audi has unveiled the Audi A6 E-Tron concept, which seems to be the preview of a future all-electric large Audi sedan. It was unveiled at the ongoing 2021 Shanghai motor show. It was a 95 per cent production-ready preview that will enter production in 2023.

The Audi A6 E-Tron will be powered by a pair of electric motors that can send 350kW and 800Nm to the four wheels. It can achieve a zero to 100km/h sprint in just four seconds. The vehicle’s energy will be stored in a 100kWh (net) lithium-ion battery that is mounted under the flat floor. As per Europe’s WLTP test cycle, it can help get more than 700km of range.

The executives of Audi also hinted that the PPE platform might extract even more driving range, and the production model might score a high performance than the RS6 E-Tron flagship. The brand also confirmed that a series of rear-wheel-drive A6 E-Tron models are also being planned. They will be capable of going from zero to 100km/h in just 7 seconds.

The Audi A6 E-Tron has an 800-volt electrical architecture which helps ensure 270kW DC fast-charging capabilities. Ten minutes of charging can lead to up to an additional 300km of driving range, while a 5 to 80 per cent charge can be achieved in fewer than 25 minutes.

The A6 E-Tron concept is 1.96m wide, 4.96m long, and 1.44m metres high. It has a sloping rear end and a sleek glasshouse as well. The vehicle also has a traditional tailgate and boot opening that is present in the sedan range.

Five-link front and multi-link rear suspension are paired with air suspension on all four corners with adaptive damping in the Audi A6. It also has the slimmest ever Digital Matrix LED headlights. The daytime-running light signatures can be customized as per the owner’s desires. Three rows of LEDs can also project a video game onto a wall. They also display warning symbols onto the ground to warn pedestrians or cyclists about opening doors or other hazards.

The interior of the Audi A6 E-Tron was not revealed, and it will likely be shared just before the launch of the model in 2023. This vehicle is in line with Audi’s recent habit of turning concept vehicles into production models.
