In an exciting turn of events, Balenciaga has decided to join forces with Fortnite to amplify the wardrobe of some of the most popular characters from the game. These include Banshee, Doggo, Ramirez, and Knight.

Each of the outfits comes with unique wraps, pickaxes, backblings, and gliders. Along with that, Balenciaga has also added several other accessories for each character. Regarding this, the Senior Manager of Partnerships at Epic Games, Emily Levy, stated, “We took four fan-favorite Fortnite characters and reached into the Balenciaga archive to create four meticulously detailed outfits and a variety of accessories.”

It is interesting how the looks of these characters take inspiration from some of the actual pieces from the fall 2021 collection by Balenciaga. For instance, the Doggo takes inspiration from the 2021 Spring line. Whereas, Banshee has cues from the 2020 Spring collection.

But that is not all. Fortnite has also launched a lookbook campaign within the Hub. There, Fortnite is hosting a Balenciaga retail store, taking inspiration from the brick-and-mortar stores of the label. Along with that, the advertisements regarding the collaboration can also be seen on the billboards.

A physical apparel collection has also come out of the partnership between Balenciaga and Fortnite. The collection includes several jackets, hoodies, T-shirts, and hats. These come with dual branding in black, red, and white colourways.

The actual clothing collection will be available on the 20th or the 21st of September 2021. The dates may vary depending on the region, though. And apparently, fans are already quite excited about it.

However, it is interesting that Balenciaga’s partnership with the game company is not the first one. Regarding this, Demna Gvasalia, the artistic director at Balenciaga, stated, “Our partnership with Epic didn’t start with Fortnite. It started with our own first video game, Afterworld, which we built using Unreal Engine to debut our Fall 2021 collection.”

Epic Games has used some novel techniques in the Unreal Game Engine to make sure that the looks of Balenciaga’s fabrics are represented the right way. It looks like this collaboration might bring a lot more content very soon.
