About 20 years ago, Steve Burns made an emotional departure from the kids’ show Blue’s Clues. The children’s series on Nickelodeon was incredibly popular among the kids, as they helped Steve find clues, solved puzzles, and sang songs along with him.

Indeed, the Blue’s Clues was every child’s favorite. In fact, children were so attached to the show that they considered Steve Burns as their best friend. The year was 2002 when Steve Burns finally decided to say goodbye to Blue’s Clues.

That is when the host of the show got onto a cartoon bus after packing his bags and saying a quick yet emotional goodbye note. Right after that, Steve got replaced by Joe, his older brother. Yet, children did feel suddenly betrayed by the unexpected departure.

Now, the 25th anniversary of Blue’s Clues just passed. And in honour of the anniversary, all the three hosts of the show, including Steve, Josh, and Joe, filmed Twitter videos and funny content on TikTok. However, yesterday was rather emotional as Steve Burns decided to address the audience.

Yesterday, the Official Nick Jr. Twitter account posted a video where Steve directly talked with his Gen-Z and millennial friends. The host appeared in the signature green rugby shirt and explained why he had to abruptly leave Blue’s Clues.

Regarding this, he stated, “I realize that was kind of abrupt. I just kind of got up and went to college. And that was really challenging, by the way, but great because I got to use my mind and take a step at a time, and now I literally am doing many of the things that I wanted to do.”

Indeed, all the fantastic and heart-touching words from an old childhood friend put many millennials over the edge. In fact, videos of millennials crying as a reaction surfaced on TikTok and other social media platforms.

After all, Blue’s Clues was an essential part of the lives of many millennials around that time. Of course, a large number of emotional and wholesome memes also flooded the internet shortly after the video was posted, with fans thanking Steve for taking the time out to address them.
