Coming 2 America: Prince Akeem’s Zamunda Palace Belongs to Rick Ross

The property is located in Fayetteville, Ga., and it covers around 235 acres of land

Scores of people spent their weekend watching Coming 2 America. If you were among them, you might have noticed Prince Akeem’s Zamunda Palace that looks quite stunning. Most of that palace was real, and the film was shot at the home of Rick Ross.

 

The production designer of Coming 2 America, Jefferson Sage, and his team saw many locations before finalizing Rick Ross’s home. The property is located in Fayetteville, Ga., and it covers around 235 acres of land. Before Ross, it belonged to renowned boxer Evander Holyfield. The centre of the property has a 45,000square-foot manse which consists of 12 bedrooms.

 

The crew of Coming 2 America selected five key areas of Ross’ home to bring Prince Akeem’s luxurious Zamunda Palace to life. It included a fabulous foyer that has a double winding staircase, a huge dining room that can accommodate 100 guests or 50 royal subjects, and two stately rooms which have amazing looking oversized windows and an 18-foot ceiling. The main bedroom actually belongs to Ross himself.

 

For showing the palace’s exterior beauty, the team of Coming 2 America depended on visual effects like CGI, and the result is outstanding.

 

Talking about the film, Ross stated that Coming 2 America might be his all-time favourite film. He was elated when Prince Akeem Joffer (played by Eddie Murphy) and his bestie/aid Semmi (played by Arsenio Hall) came to his home. The rapper also got some pleasant perks from the filming. He stated, “They changed the wallpaper in the dining room, so I asked them to keep it up there. They also created that huge dining room table for a dining scene that seats 50-60 people, and they left that for me as a gift. It’s humungous.”

Coming 2 America is not the first film where Ross has used his home for shooting. It featured in the season four episode of “Drop Dead Diva” that was titled “Happily Ever After” and aired in 2012.
