Conor McGregor Believes He “Outlanded” Floyd Mayweather in 2017 Fight
McGregor is calling out Mayweather
Conor McGregor is not among those people who let go of the past easily. He has once again dug up the past by claiming that he won the early rounds of the 2017 boxing super-fight with Floyd Mayweather and “outlanded” him.
For those who are unaware, Conor McGregor was stopped by Mayweather in the tenth round, and Money moved to 50-0. Before the stoppage, three of the judges thought that McGregor had won only one round.
Now, three years after the defeat, Conor McGregor has rewatched the match and thinks that he won all the early and later rounds. He shared his views on Twitter regarding the fight.
It was a great contest, just watched it back!
Early rounds all mine, and even later rounds when legs where gone, I still outlanded him.
I received my credit from many notable names in the boxing world, which I was thankful for.
None more so than from Mike.
Excited for part 2. https://t.co/ysL9NNnFsO— Conor McGregor (@TheNotoriousMMA) May 18, 2020
Conor McGregor also got high praise from the legendary Mike Tyson who had defended his performance on a recent edition of his podcast Hotboxin’ with Mike Tyson. He also praised Conor McGregor for going 10 rounds with the ‘greatest fighter of the last 100 years of boxing.’
Thank you Mike, and just know that for the inevitable rematch, with the knowledge I now hold of Floyd’s style, plus under the tutelage of my old school boxing coach, I will crack the puzzle, and I will beat Floyd.
I promise my life on it.
It is great to see you back Iron Mike ❤️ https://t.co/NDrVnEaukm— Conor McGregor (@TheNotoriousMMA) May 15, 2020
This isn’t the first time Conor McGregor has spoken about that fight. He and Mayweather have been going back and forth on social media ever since that fight happened. McGregor has also claimed that he avoided knocking Mayweather out so that he could have a rematch with him.
It is guaranteed that May-Mac will be back for another edition, and it is also likely that both of the fighters will keep talking about the fight as much as they can. After all, their comments get them publicity and both of them are smart businessmen.
Conor McGregor has also been targeting interim UFC lightweight champion Justin Gaethje who is set for a title unification bout against Nurmagomedov. He defo knows how to remain in the limelight.
