CONNOR MCGREGOR SPORTS HIS LATEST PATEK PHILIPPE WORTH OVER A$150,000

When it comes to luxury watches, celebrities have a good taste. A few months back, the internet was swooning over Drake’s Patek Philippe that he flaunted during the Raptors-76ers Game. Now, the watch lovers are swooning over Conor McGregor’s timepiece.

McGregor, who is probably the most famous athlete of Ireland has bought a timepiece that is a celebration of Dublin and one of its historic jewellers. Only 25 pieces of the watch have been produced. They were produced for the 150th anniversary of Weir & Sons and also to celebrate the 50-year partnership between Weir and Sons and Patek Philippe. Patek Philippe Annual Calendar Chronograph Ref. 5905P is a limited-edition watch, but Conor McGregor opted to make one of the collection’s watch his own by spending more than AU$150,000.

The Director of Weir and Sons, Chris Andrew, spoke about the timepieces. He said, “They are simply one of the best watchmakers in the world, and the Patek Philippe Annual Calendar Chronograph Ref. 5905P is a remarkable timepiece.”

Conor McGregor’s luxury watch has a vibrant green dial and a tonal alligator strap. The shade was selected by Weir and Sons to give the nod to Ireland. It was also chosen to provide a reference to the colour of watch boxes that were earlier produced by the company.

A watch like the one owned by Conor McGregor will have a pure platinum case, 45 hours of power reserve and an in-house calibre CH 28-520 QA 42H movement. The watch will also have an annual calendar complication and titular chronograph. The intricate inner workings of the watch can be glimpsed via the sapphire crystal case back.

The watches from which Conor McGregor’s timepiece comes were unveiled on April 11, 2019. A gala event was organized at the Mansion House on Dawson Street in Dublin. Several pieces that were featured during that year’s Baselworld were also on display to let attendees enjoy a mini-exhibition of sorts.

Conor McGregor picked number 12 from the 25 pieces. He did it deliberately as he wanted to pay a kind of homage to his Proper 12 line if whiskey, He showed off the watch via an Instagram post and explained the reason for choosing number 12.

New watch alert!!! #TheHulk Patek Philipe in platinum and honey comb green! With diamond and crocodile strap. 1 of just 25 made, and yes you guessed it. I’m number 12, certified. They will also never utilise this colour scheme again, such was the difficulty in levelling it out all through the dial. Incredible! 25 of these only made and all specifically for Ireland’s Weir and sons jewellers. Due to their long standing partnership with Patek, but more so their great year of sales for the brand. In other words… my purchases lol. The first time in Weir and Sons rich history to be bestowed with such an honour, and it’s truly been my pleasure 🇮🇪 @patekphilippe @weirandsons @crumlinboxingclubofficial
