Cristiano Ronaldo, the well-acclaimed footballer has been an avid advocate of health and fitness in recent times. It has been years since the 36-year-old athlete has been denouncing all soft drink brands on grounds of living a healthy lifestyle.

However, he recently sparked a storm after replacing Coca-Cola bottles from a table in front of him with plain old water during the Euro 2020 press conference. At the same time, he exhibited his water bottle to the audience and said, ‘Agua!’ (‘Water!’ in Portuguese)

Not too long ago, Cristiano Ronaldo gave details of his strict and healthy diet. The athlete starts his day with some cheese, yogurt, and ham. Then, he snacks on some toast and avocado later in the day. Around noon, he eats either salad and chicken or fish to fulfil his protein requirements.

For dinner, Cristiano Ronaldo then prefers two servings of some meat or fish. Along with that, the athlete also eats plenty of fruits and drinks enough water throughout the day. Soft drinks are a big no for him, as it is quite obvious now.

As soon as he replaced the Coca-Cola bottles with water, the market value of Coca-Cola plummeted by over $5 Billion (AUD). Of course, the drink company would not be very happy with that act. Since Cristiano Ronaldo has a huge influence on the public, one could imagine the impact that he would have made on his fans.

Regarding the incident, a spokesperson at the Euro 2020 stated, “Players are offered water, alongside Coca-Cola and Coca-Cola Zero Sugar, on arrival at our press conferences.”

It looks like this action has triggered a series of similar events. Shortly after the press conference by Cristiano Ronaldo, Paul Pogba also removed a Heineken bottle.

However, speculators are suggesting that Pogba’s action had a religious motivation, unlike Cristiano Ronaldo. Ironically, Pogba has received the Heineken Award as Star of the Match for leading France to victory.

In other recent news, actor and comedian Kevin Hart just denounced cancel culture and gave its proponents a shut-up call.
