E3 2022 cancelled.

The cancelation of E3 2022 was confirmed when Will Powers, PR for gaming peripheral manufacturer Razer tweeted that he received an email stating the digital event was cancelled. The email has also been viewed by an American video game and entertainment media website.

The COVID-19 pandemic seemed to be slowing down, so E3 2022 was supposed to be an in-person event this year. In January 2022. The event was shifted from an in-person event to an online-only event as the new variants of the pandemic made things difficult again. Now, the event won’t happen online or offline. It has been completely cancelled.

There have been some concerns about the fate of E3 in the last few years. The COVID-19 pandemic is the reason behind it. The pandemic impacts in-person gatherings and makes packed events unattractive for people who want to avoid getting infected.

Just last week, several video game industry professionals had tested positive after they attended

the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco.

Video game publishers have also been withdrawing from E3 and are hosting their own online events like EA Play Live, Nintendo’s Direct showcases, and the Sony’s State of Play.

After the news of the cancelation of E3 2022 broke, consummate video game hype-man Geoff Keighley announced that his Summer Game Fest is confirmed for June 2022.

Despite the cancelation of E3 2022, there is still hope for video game enthusiasts as the event will be back in 2023. Axios’ Stephen Totilo, the ESA, recently tweeted, “E3 will return in 2023 with a reinvigorated showcase that celebrates new and exciting video games and industry innovations.” As E3 2022 is cancelled, the organizers have plenty of time to organize E3 2023, which is expected to be both an online and in-person event.
