Everything We Know About the 2022 Kia Sportage from the Latest Teasers

The 2022 Kia Sportage has been teased for the first time. The Australian launch of the car is planned for the end of this year, and the full reveal will come a month later, in July. Kia has unveiled the car via a trio of darkened images. Here is what we can garner from those images.

According to the images, the 2022 Kia Sportage has a bold front fascia and stylized LED daytime-running lights. It also has a bolder and sportier design than its predecessor. The rear wheel arches are highlighted thanks to a sharp crease and a pair of LED taillights that are high set and at the rear. There are also C-shaped signatures which are connected by a piece of trim across the tailgate.

Inside the upcoming new Sportage, one can see a large, curved panel that stretches across much of the dashboard. It will likely combine the digital instrument cluster as well as the central infotainment touchscreen into a single unit. The new logo of Kia is placed in the centre of the steering wheel. Some other interior features worth highlighting are multi-zone climate control, multi-coloured ambient LED lighting, and aluminium trim elements.

The new Kia Sportage will go on sale in Australia in the last quarter of 2021. A range of diesel and petrol engines will be offered in the country. Several hybrid and plug-in hybrid options will also likely be made available. More details of the 2022 Kia Sportage’s design will be shared on June 8, while all the features are set to be released in July 2021.

Talking about 2022 Kia Sportage, Karim Habib, the Senior VP and Head of Kia’s Global Design Centre said, “Taking inspiration from an ethos we created where nature meets modernity, the new Sportage challenges design norms with an adventurous yet contemporary exterior and a beautifully detailed and pioneering interior. With new Sportage, we did not simply want to take one step forward, but rather move to a completely different level within the SUV class.” In other news from the automotive world, the new SSC Tuatara Striker and Aggressor have been unveiled.
