Ferrari is working hard to launch an all-electric vehicle as soon as 2025. This information on the upcoming electric car was shared by the CEO of the company John Elkann during the Annual General Meeting with the stakeholders.

The electric car of Ferrari

Talking about the electric car, Elkann said, “We are continuing to execute our electrification strategy in a highly disciplined way.” The CEO of Ferrari added, “We are also very excited about our first all-electric Ferrari that we plan to unveil in 2025, and you can be sure this will be everything you dream the engineers and designers at Maranello can imagine for such a landmark in our history.”

In January this year, a report highlighted that Ferrari is also planning to launch two battery-powered SUVs in 2024 and 2026, which are different from the electric car planned for 2025. It is also working on the hybridised Ferrari Purosangue SUV variant that will likely use a detuned powertrain from another popular vehicle, the SF90 Stradale. Those plans might not be completed on time by the brand as the coronavirus pandemic has led to many unwanted delays. Also, a semiconductor chip shortage has impacted the company.

Elkann has also shared that the company also intends to launch three new models in addition to the electric car. The carmaker might also reveal the all-new V6-powered supercar with 522kW and a special version of the 812 Superfast.

The company refrained from sharing more about the electrification strategy that it plans to follow in addition to the first electric car. But Elkann suggested that a new hypercar is in the plans that will be used to return to the Le Mans 24 Hours in 2023. Highlighting those technologies, he said, “Our interpretation and application of these technologies both in motorsport and in road cars is a huge opportunity to bring the uniqueness and passion of Ferrari to new generations.”

Ferrari is also planning to focus more on product innovation. A key example of that is the company’s first SUV, the Purosangue, which will be unveiled in 2022, three years before its first electric car is revealed.
