Game of Thrones Nominated for 32 Categories for Emmy 2019

Quite impressive really, all but one category

Game of Thrones Nominated for 32 Categories for Emmy 2019
Game of Thrones – HBO

There is no doubt in the fact that George RR Martin is a brilliant writer and his books were perfect base for creating the Game of Thrones series. But as the final season was not written by him, the fans were disappointed with the results. Game of Thrones finale was named as a worst-ever episode by many fans when it aired. Those fans got a shock recently when they learned that Game of Thrones had been nominated for 32 categories for Emmy 2019, including best writing!

If you ever thought that the Chernobyl series stood a chance against Game of Thrones, you are in for a shock too. These Emmy nominations not only broke the show’s own record of 22 nominations in 2018 but also outpaced the second most nominated show, The Marvellous Mrs. Maisel by 12 nods.

As expected, 10 of the nominations are in the acting category where the Lannister siblings are dominating as Jaime (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau), Cersei (Lena Headey) and Tyrion (Peter Dinklage) are all nominated. Even the Stark girls, Sansa (Sophie Turner) and Arya (Maisie Williams) made a place in the best-supporting-actress category. The well-deserving Jon (Kit Harington) and Daenerys (Emilia Clarke) are also nominated. Even Theon Greyjoy (Alfie Allen) and Ser Brienne of Tarth (Gwendoline Christie) are nominated. (We wish some of these actors should have gotten a place in Game of Thrones prequels)

Game of Thrones is also nominated in technical and artistic categories like costume, makeup, visual effects, sound editing and mixing, visual effects, and many more.

All sounds good till now. But the one nomination that made the fans angry and frustrated was the nomination for Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series for “The Iron Throne” in which D.B. Weiss and David Benioff are named.

Twitter erupted with anger and mockery due to this particular Game of Thrones nomination. Some users called it a joke, and some expressed anger & frustration. We only wish this award is bagged by other more deserving shows like The Handmaid’s Tale and Better Call Saul. It might soothe the anger of the loyal fans of the GoT series.

Do you think Game of Thrones nomination in the writing category is justified? We find it hard to digest.
