Ingredients: Gin or vodka, dry vermouth, orange bitters (optional for gin, not necessary for vodka)

Back-story: Even though the specific origin of the martini is still uncertain, the cocktail name came in light when an Italian vermouth maker, during 1863, started to market a product with the name of Martini. This eventually became the name of the cocktail. Moreover, in the early 1860s, a cocktail by the name of Martinez was being served which had the same ingredients as a martini although bitters and maraschino were added, the last two ingredients got removed and that’s how martini started making appearances on the pubs and bars and ultimately in to our hearts.
