After the success of the iPhone 11 event, people were looking forward to Google Pixel 4 event. Though the event was a grand one, it didn’t reveal much. There were few surprises and fewer hardware details, which left many fans disappointed. The event also focused on the environmental initiatives of the company and the appearance of photographer Annie Leibovitz to talk about smartphones. The event was held in New York a few hours back.

The Google Pixel 4 event officially announced Google Pixel 4 smartphones. It also announced innovative products like Google Wi-Fi and Google Home Mini. Pixelbook Go was also revealed, but details of this product weren’t unveiled properly. What we found most interesting were the new Pixel Buds headphones, which might make the list of true wireless earbuds one day. Unfortunately, we all have to wait till 2020 to get our hands on one of these beauties.

Google Pixel

As expected, the real highlight of the show were Google Pixel 4 and Google Pixel 4 XL. Some of the things worth noticing in the new Google Pixel 4 includes a 16-megapixel telephoto camera that complements the 12-megapixel primary camera. Thankfully, Google Pixel 4 has gotten rid of the notched screen, but it still has facial recognition biometric security.

The shooting prowess of Google Pixel 4 is boosted thanks to additional machine learning image processing capabilities, which means it can be used for astrophotography. We also like the motion sense gesture recognition capabilities that allow users to interact with Google Pixel 4 without touching anything. It is the result of radar technology Google has been working on for years. The cost of Google Pixel 4 comes to AU$ 1,049, while the Google Pixel 4 XL costs AU$ 1,279.

People who are looking for a great wi-fi solution can opt for the updated and rebranded Google Nest Wi-Fi. It can make connecting to Wi-Fi easy for all smartphone owners like Note 10 owners. The Google Nest router connects to the internet modem is paired with several Wi-Fi points nodes which spread reliable and even wi-fi coverage across the entire home.

The amazing thing is that the nodes can also serve as Google Nest Mini speakers and allow you to set up a network that includes smart assistants and whole-home sounds solutions. The cost of Google Nest Wi-Fi is lower than Google Pixel 4, as it will cost around AU$ 399 for a router and a node-two pack. You can buy a three-pack with two nodes by shelling out AU$ 549. It will be made available on November 5.

Google Home Mini has been rebranded as Google Nest Mini after two years of its debut. The size and shape still resemble a contoured hockey puck, but it has a third microphone that will ensure improved voice pickup especially in a noisy environment. The bass performance is also doubled, and you get a wall mounting hole on the underside that allows you to hang it anywhere and save some space. It is available in a sky-blue colour option and will be available from October 29. It will cost AU$ 79 only.

Google Pixelbook Go

If we were fascinated by a product other than Google Pixel 4, it is the Google Pixelbook Go. It costs AU$ 962 which is AU$ 500 less than the Pixelbook. It is more affordable, more practical and more lightweight. It’s only 13 mm thick, weighs two pounds, and is limited to Chrome OS. It also has several Intel processors and Hush Keys keyboard. The ridged bottom is also a nice addition as it makes it easier to grab and grip when you are in a hurry. It boasts of 16 GB RAM and 256 GB of SSD storage. The fans of Galaxy Book S might want to have a look at it!

Sadly, it is not likely that Google Pixelbook Go would be launched in Australia as the company has never launched the Pixelbook range in the country before. So, we’re just keeping our fingers crossed and hoping for the best!

The Most Innovative Product – Google Stadia

Google Stadia

Google Stadia, that defines Google’s unconventional approach to console gaming, i.e., a system that has no actual console was the only device that is as hyped as Google Pixel 4 throughout the year. The official release date of the device is November 19, and it will allow US gamers to stream amazing games like Red Dead Redemption 2 or Assassin’s Creed Odyssey for about US$ 10 plus AU$ 102 for special Stadia controller and a Chromecast. Buying the Chromecast is only necessary for users whose tablet, smartphone or TV doesn’t support Google’s streaming solution already.

We are not sure whether Stadia will be launched in Australia. We’ll let you know as soon as an affirmation or denial is confirmed. Sadly, the probability is low.

Talking from an innovation enthusiasts’ point of view, Google Pixel Buds 2 are as exciting as Google Pixel 4 smartphones as they have eliminated cables altogether. Google has come up with a design that looks like it would fit in any ear, perfectly and comfortably.

They offer about five hours of battery life or even 24 when they are paired with a wireless charging case. They offer quick access to Google Assistant to make use of features like real-time translation. You’d have to wait till spring of 2020 to get one of these, and they’d cost around AU$ 267. The pricing is yet to be confirmed.

Also, Google Assistant will now be available to Google’s Nest Wi-Fi products and will allow the users to control settings for the home network. For instance, disabling access to specific devices via simple voice commands.
