2020 has been a trying and tiring year for the world as we are all battling a pandemic that has made us miserable. The top Google search engine results in Australia for 2020 show what did we search for when we were stuck at home and sought knowledge in the world of internet. Have a look at what Australians searched right here.

One of the things we searched the most as per Google search engine results in Australia for 2020 is hand sanitiser. It topped three different categories in the country. US election was the overall search term this year.

Another interesting thing Australians Googled as per the Google search engine results was “Where can I buy toilet paper?” It was the most searched “can I” phrase. It was followed by “where can I buy hand sanitizer?” Hand sanitizer was apparently a lot on our minds as it topped three different lists as well. It topped how to list, recipe list and DIY lists. The fourth spot in the DIY category was the DIY ventilator. The second and third spots were filled by “face mask pattern” and “neck hammock.”

Also, according to Australia’s top Google search engine results this year, “coronavirus” was the second most-searched term overall and it grabbed the second spot among news topics as well. The first in both categories was US elections. Some other leading search terms mentioned in the list of Google search engine results were “Zoom” that had the fourth position, “coronavirus symptoms” that had the fifth spot and “coronavirus Victoria” that was at number nine.

A few non-coronavirus related terms also featured on the Google search engine results. It included terms like “weather tomorrow”, “crumpet”, “air quality Melbourne,” “Ben Cousins,” and “how to make whipped coffee.”

Australia’s top Google search engine results also revealed a surprise. “Can I leave Australia got the 10th spot in the “can I” searches. As people were bored at home, they also searched sourdough recipes and how to make bread. Searches for how to apply for jobkeeper and Centrelink were also high. NBA was the most searched for sport in the country.
