Grammys 2019 Shocker: Drake’s Genuine Speech Cut Off Abruptly

He was just doing some real talk.

Grammys 2019 was one of the most successful events of the year because it was full of fun and dazzling looking celebrities. But it also had a few weird moments. One of the weird moments was the abrupt cutting off the mic when Drake was giving a genuine speech. It was rude, to say the least.

Drake had won The Grammy for Best Rap Song this Sunday for “God’s Plan,” and he bagged the award by beating favourites like the Kendrick Lamar/ James Blake/Jay Rock/ Future powerhouse “King’s Dead,” and Travis Scott’s “SICKO MODE.” This is Drake’s fourth Grammy while his total number of nominations is 42.

Drake’s speech was meant to be full of fire, and the fans realized it when he started by saying that the awards are decided by people who don’t much care about whether people like the song or not. He added that he had won an award already because people were actually singing his song and coming out in the rain for his show.

It’s highly probable that the producers of Grammys 2019 realized what the rapper was up to because as he started speaking again, his mic was cut off, not only on TV but in the arena as well. It was a baffling moment for fans who assumed that the speech was about to take an honestly inspiring turn and Drake might say something precious from the heart. The fans of the songwriter were pretty angry when the star who usually stays tight-lipped decided to say something from his heart and was stopped from doing so.

Though there have been no details on why the mic was cut off, intentionally by the producers or by accident, it is quite clear that Drake wasn’t given a chance to express his gratitude during Grammys 2019.

After the incident, reports have been coming in that Drake refused to perform at the ceremony with two other celebs, Kendrick Lamar and Ariana Grande.

It seems that this year is not good for huge events. Sometime back, Nicole Kidman had an awkward Golden Globes moment as she accidentally snubbed Rami Malek. Then it was confirmed that we will see hostless Oscars this year and now this. What more do we, the fans of huge awards have to endure?
