The new Samsung foldable flip phone was revealed while talking about One UI 2, a software overlay for the smartphones, tablets, and smartwatches of the company.

A glimpse of the new Samsung foldable flip phone confirms that Samsung’s next foldable smartphone could be folded inward to become a compact square. A story regarding this was quite popular in September. The graphic of the new Samsung foldable flip phone was more than enough to tease what the actual phone would look like. The graphic showed that the phone could be as tall as Galaxy Fold, but it would fold down more than that device to be more pocketable.

Hyesoon Jeong, the Head of Samsung’s framework at Research and Development Group, said “This brand-new form factor that we’re now exploring will not only easily fit in your pocket, but it also changes the way you use your phone.” It was added that the idea behind the brand new Samsung foldable flip phone was to use the existing foldable smartphone technology of the company and push it to “become more compact,” while extending to new device form factors.

While talking about the new Samsung foldable flip phone with regard to the latest One UI efforts with Android, Jeong said: “As a pioneer in the foldable category, we understand that every innovative form factor requires an equally innovative user experience.”

The timing of Samsung’s decision to share the Samsung foldable flip phone is quite interesting. This news comes on the heels of the news from Motorola that said the company would launch a new version of the iconic Moto Razr by the end of 2019.
