The AR Gucci sneakers

Costing about AUD 15.9 or USD 11.99), these Gucci sneakers will help Kering, the Gucci parent company, stay at the forefront of VR trends. To make these Gucci sneakers a reality, the company has collaborated with Wanna. This Belarus-based fashion-tech company has expertise in manipulating AR to create three-dimensional models which can be used for watches and digital sneaker fittings.

Wanna has worked with brands like Snapchat, Reebok, and Puma in the past. Before Gucci sneakers, Gucci has also worked with Wanna to digitalize the AR sneaker try-ons that were available in the Gucci app.

The AR Gucci sneakers will cost AUD 11.57 (or USD 8.99) when you buy them from Wanna’s app. There will be an unlimited quantity of sneakers available, so there will be no shortage. Also, the shoes will be interchangeable between consumers. Both Wanna and Gucci plan to devise trading capabilities that may boost these digital sneakers’ value in the future.

Non-fungible tokens have drawn attention in the last few weeks. Some of them attracted incredible figures at auction. In a statement, Wanna CEO Sergey Arkhangelskiy said, “In five or maybe ten years, a relatively big chunk of fashion brands revenue will come from digital products. Our goal as a company is to actually supersede the product photos … and substitute it for something which is way more engaging and closer to offline shopping.”

It will be interesting to see whether these unique AR Gucci sneakers will be able to get the popularity the brand hopes for and ride on the buzz created by the sudden craze of NFTs or not. It is highly likely that sneakerheads would love to try this unique innovation, so the brand’s efforts might be successful at some level.
