In a recent interview, Henry Cavill stated that he would certainly “love the opportunity” to do the role of Superman again. After all, the Witcher star believes that there is a lot more to the psyche of the character that needs to be explored.

Not too long ago, DC recently announced that it would be making a Black Superman film. Regarding this, Cavill was asked whether it would hurt his chances of playing the role again.

Henry  Cavill interview

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Cavill stated, “It’s exciting – Superman’s far more than skin colour. Superman is an ideal. Superman’s an extraordinary thing that lives within our hearts.”

He also implied that there is nothing wrong with multiple Superman storylines going on. For instance, he gave the example of the new Joker movie with Joaquin Phoenix in the lead. He also added that in the comics, multiple storylines featuring Superman happen at the same time.

In reference to the scene from Man of Steel where Superman kills Zod, Cavill stated that there is room for more storytelling other than the immediate reaction of the superhero.

“Superman falling to the ground and screaming afterward – I don’t think that was originally in the script, but I wanted to show the pain he had. I did far more emotional takes they didn’t choose; tears were happening,”

“He just killed the last remaining member of his species. That’s the choice he made in that moment, and he’ll never do that again.”

“There’s an opportunity for growth after that, to explore the psyche of Superman as a deep, seemingly invulnerable god-like being but with real feeling on the inside. As I always say, ‘The cape is still in the closet.'”

Cavill also expressed his interest in playing Captain Britain for the MCU. When asked about the possibility of playing an MCU character, he tells The Hollywood Reporter, “I’m never going to say a Marvel character that is already being played by someone else.”

“because everyone’s doing such an amazing job. However, I have the internet and I have seen the various rumors about Captain Britain and that would be loads of fun to do a cool, modernized version of that — like the way they modernized Captain America. There’s something fun about that, and I do love being British.”

As of now, the MCU has not confirmed whether Captain Britain will be featured soon. However, rumours have been floating around the internet for a while. For instance, there may have been an Easter egg of Captain Britain in the Avengers: Endgame.

In 2018, fans were speculating the possibility of a Black Knight and Captain Britain movie in the works. Now that Black Knight has made his debut in the Eternals, it is possible that Captain Britain will also join the MCU soon. After all, both Captain Britain and Black Knight work together as part of the MI13.

Other than Cavill, some other actors have also expressed their interest in the Captain Britain role. Though, Henry Cavill might just be the perfect actor for the role, considering the fact that his previous roles deal with magic and the multiverse – the two things that are right up to Captain Britain’s alley.
