Huawei Mate X is Here to Challenge Samsung Galaxy Fold
They’ve got an impressive take on the foldable phablet concept.
Huawei has joined the race to provide a foldable smartphone to users by unveiling The Huawei Mate X recently. It will directly challenge the dominance of Samsung Galaxy Fold which grabbed the eyeballs a few days back. Though Huawei’s device is a bit large than Samsung, it is being reported that it’s easier to grasp. It also provides users with two external displays which open to provide you with an 8-inch screen.
The wraparound display is 11mm thick when closed with the front display being 6.6 inches and the rear display being 6.38 inches. When opened, its thickness is just 5.4 mm. It is thinner than iPad Pro. When Huawei Mate X is opened, users get 2480 x 2200-pixel resolution, and when it is closed, you get 2480 x 892-pixel resolution.
The display in Huawei Mate X is wrapped around the outside and not folded internally. It is assumed that Huawei doesn’t want to scare users and make them think that the foldable display might develop a crease over time. The device is powered by Kirin 980 processor, has 5G technology and a 4,500mAh battery. The operating system is Android 9.0 (Pie), and it has 8 GB RAM and 512 GB ROM. It is also compatible with an NM card and can support up to 256 GB more space.
The pricing of Huawei Mate X in Australia hasn’t been announced yet. As the cost of the device is expected to be about €2299, it can be assumed that the beautiful smartphone will cost around $3700 locally. You will need to add GST to the cost to get a final prize. So, Huawei Mate X is about 10 percent more expensive than the Galaxy Fold.
According to the CEO of Huawei, Richard Yu, the device will be available in the market by the middle of 2019, which is a few weeks away if you are an optimist.
