Could Hugh Jackman be returning as Wolverine in the MCU? Well, the actor recently uploaded possible hints on his Instagram story, that seemingly teases this possibility. With the death of his character at Logan’s end in 2017, the actor finally retired after playing Wolverine for 20 years.

But of course, the X-Men franchise could continue. With that, at the SDCC 2019, Kevin Feige had already stated that the X-Men would eventually become a part of the MCU and the only character that would not be rebooted is Deadpool (Ryan Reynolds).

 

Fans have been wondering who would play the role of the new Wolverine. From what it looks, Hugh Jackman is the only person that Marvel would need.

 

In a recent Instagram story, Hugh Jackman showed off two images connected to Marvel. Among these, one was a Bosslogic fan art while the other was a picture with Kevin Feige. Along with those, he also put up a small tribute to the late Richard Donner.

Of course, this is not a confirmation that the actor will return as Wolverine. But it does certainly hint at the possibility. Furthermore, it is odd for Hugh Jackman to be putting up fan art followed by a picture with Kevin Feige the next day.

Previously though, Hugh Jackman did point out that he would continue to play Wolverine if the character we’re introduced to the MCU. However, at that time, Fox-owned all the rights to X-Men. So, it seemed unlikely for him to ever play Wolverine in the MCU.

Though times have now changed, and the X-Men could be introduced in the MCU in the future. If Disney does hire him, his dream of entering the MCU could become true.

And since X-Men characters are getting rebooted anyway, Disney might have to face backlash if the Wolverine character gets re-casted. After all, fans have been seeing Hugh Jackman as Wolverine for 20 odd years. Disney would certainly prefer to avoid that.

 

Though, it will still take years for Disney to reboot X-Men into the MCU. So, there is plenty of time for Disney to decide.
