When Jacob & Co. announced the partnership with Alec Monopoly, people were excited. Now, the partnership has led to the release of the first high-end watch they created. It is called Astronomia Alec Monopoly and has a lot of colour and movement that will surely get your attention.

Alec Monopoly is famous for graphic sendups of the board game in his nom de plume. So, no one was surprised to know that the animated watch by Jacob & Co. had bright renditions of the central character of the game, Mr. Monopoly. He is manifested as several other icons of pop culture and set off against a black dial of the Astronomia that looks like a night sky with countless stars.

The new watch by Jacob & Co. is housed in an 18-karat gold case that has a curved sapphire crystal dome. The Astronomia also has four windows on the side which let you see the full view of the artistry located inside the watch. Like other watches in the Astronomia line, this watch will have a four-arm vertical movement powered partly by a tourbillon complication. On one of the arms of this beauty of this Jacob & Co. Astronomia, you will find a hand-lacquered magnesium globe that rotates every 60 seconds, while on the opposite of this, you will see a 1-carat diamond that also spins after every 60 seconds.

Jacob & Co. also features double-axis tourbillon stands opposite the time display in this design. The watch is powered by manual winding JCAM10 that is assured of a 60-hour power reserve. Alec Monopoly drew the sketch of four characters housed inside this new Astronomia. They were transformed into CAD renderings that were then tailored to fit within the watch’s case without disrupting the movement and complications. Then the characters were hand-sculpted and cast in gold. Finally, the intricate finishing was all done by hand.

“This is by far the smallest scale ‘canvas’ I have ever painted. Every element, brushstroke and color choice needed to be carefully thought out and perfectly executed,” says Monopoly in an interview. “My street art murals are often free flowing and wild but given the intricacies and meticulous mechanics within these watches I needed to approach the creative process with much more precision and patience.” he added.
