Kanye West has been known for sporting unique pieces in the last few years. People have been attracted to the merchandise he flexes too. It was proved recently when his unique Goyard backpack he bought in 2010 was sold for $55,000 USD ($70,000 AUD). Read on for the details.
While describing the piece, Justin Reed, a renowned streetwear, and high-fashion reseller, stated, “While Kanye West and his girlfriend, Amber Rose, were in Paris during the 2010 Paris Fashion Week, West picked up his 1 of 1 ‘Robot Face’ Goyard Backpack that he designed. The 1 of 1 Goyard backpack is just one of the many limited-edition pieces that West has accumulated in his closet.”
Explaining the condition of the backpack, the website wrote “excellent overall, with a few “minor marks.”
The buyer of Kanye West’s backpack was not revealed, but it has been confirmed that the person paid USD 55,000. One of the reasons this backpack was sold for such a high price because he was a huge supporter of Goyard. He even mentioned the luxury company on The Glory track that was released in 2007.
As per reports, the backpack was designed by Kanye West himself. He did that when he was in the French capital for Fashion Week. It was sold with a condition report and a few photographs of Kanye West wearing it. He had also sported a Goyard briefcase around Paris Fashion Week in 2009. It created a lot of buzz when the photos were released and circulated widely.
This piece and its association with Kanye West have given a lot of free press to Goyard, a company that does not advertise.
There are a few features of Kanye West’s Goyard backpack that are worth noticing. It has a pocket constellation that resembles a robot face and a small K that is placed on the bottom right corner.
