Kanye West is opening a new school called the Donda Academy with an aim to prepare students to become the next generation of leaders. The school will be opened in Southern California and will recruit some top basketball stars.

The Donda Academy is named after West’s mother (who also the inspiration for his 10th studio album of the rapper that was released recently). It is set on “finding the intersection between faith and the innovation of the future” and will also focus on “equipping students with an education that will last in the ever-changing world.”

Jakhi Howard, one of the promising basketball players, has confirmed his move to this school on Instagram by posting, “I will be moving to California, and I will be transferring to Donda Academy, I want to THANK YOU NORCROSS, and the whole BLUE DEVIL FAMILY STILL WILL BE MY FAMILY.”

Kanye West has also reached out to some players personally on Instagram. One of those players stated, “It’s crazy that he reached out. But he’s building a good team with players that I want to play with, and it’s out in LA in a good market, so it’s something me and my family have to think about.”

There is little information out on Donda Academy. The mission statement on the website reads, “Using an ethic of integrity and care, ‘Donda Academy’ prepares students to become the next generation of leaders, thinkers, and innovators by providing them with a world-class education that includes a rigorous core curriculum and an emphasis on sustainability, creativity, critical thinking and problem-solving.” The website also allows students to apply for admission.

According to reports, the Donda Academy or Kanye West have reached out to players like Jalen Hooks, Zion Cruz, and Robert Dillingham, in addition to Jakhi Howard, and they have all committed to transfer to the Donda Academy. They have changed their social media avatars to black squares and have received follows from West on Instagram.

The acquisition of Dillingham is a smart acquisition for the Donda Academy. He is one of the top 10 prospects in his class, and he is expected to sign a scholarship with basketball powerhouse school and Michael Jordan’s Alma Mater, the University of North Carolina soon.

In other news, the trailer of House of the Dragon is out now.
