Kevin Fiege to Develop Star Wars Movies Soon?

Kevin Feige, the President of Marvel Studios and the man behind smashing successes of many Marvel movies including the record-breaking Avengers: Endgame is soon to be associated with the Star Wars. He will be making a movie for the franchise for Disney that would probably have a different story line than the last film in the series, Star Wars: The Rise of the Skywalker that will be released soon.

The project will be another addition to the ever-expanding Star Wars universe which also includes the highly anticipated show, The Mandalorian and a probable Obi-Wan series. Feige will be joining Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy.

Walt Disney Studios Chief Creative Officer and Co-Chairman, Alan Horn stated “We are excited about the projects Kathy and the Lucasfilm team are working on, not only in terms of ‘Star Wars’ but also Indiana Jones and reaching into other parts of the company including ‘Children of Blood’ and ‘Bone’ with Emma Watts and Fox. With the close of the Skywalker Saga, Kathy is pursuing a new era in ‘Star Wars’ storytelling, and knowing what a die-hard fan Kevin is, it made sense for these two extraordinary producers to work on a ‘Star Wars’ film together.”

Disney acquired Lucasfilm Ltd. LLC in 2012, and it was then the studio announced plans for the new film, The Force Awakens that was released in 2015. After the acquisition, Disney also united Lucasfilm and Marvel (which it acquired in 2009). As a part of this deal, Disney also got control over the Lucasfilm’s consumer products, which has been a lucrative portion of the franchise. At the time, Disney Chairman and Chief Executive Bob Iger stated the space movie franchise is a “sustainable source of high-quality content with global appeal.”

Feige who has been Marvel President since 2007 and is the man behind many blockbuster films has been a huge Star Wars fan for years. In an interview in 2016, he admitted that he preferred seeing movies and being a fan rather than making them.

He said, “I have two jobs: Running Marvel, being a big Marvel fan, and being a Star Wars nerd. Those are my two jobs. My house is full of Star Wars, so I’m as big a Star Wars fan as there is. What’s great is, I’ve often said if I wasn’t making these Marvel movies I’d be waiting in line to see them but, and this must happen to you too, you’re behind the scenes, you see things, and you’re losing the purity of the experience of being a film fan.

I’ve not lost that at all with Star Wars and I don’t want to lose that. I saw The Force Awakens at the premiere but I probably knew less than you about the movie. … The closest I have is sometimes we were doing Doctor Strange in the vicinity where there were some Star Wars things starting to happen and sometimes I’d try to peek around a corner and see a piece of plywood being turned into a ship of some kind and geek out. So I like being the Star Wars fan that I am.”

As hardcore Star Wars and Marvel fans, we can say that Feige making of movie for both franchises is a delight for all of us. We can’t help but wonder what he will do this time to make us all swoon! What do you think? Share in the comments.
