Lamborghini has finally joined the electric revolution by sharing an electrification roadmap this Wednesday. As a part of this new strategy, the company will launch its first-ever electric supercar by 2030. It also plans to provide hybrid versions of its existing models by 2025.

The three-phase plan will see Lamborghini spending about USD 1.8 (AUD 2.31) billion for the electrification of its line-up. The three-phase plan that will include an electric supercar as well is named Cor Tauri. It is the brightest star in the Taurus constellation. This plan will allow the carmaker to halve its CO2 emissions by 2025.

As a part of the first phase, Lamborghini plans to introduce two new V-12 models before the year is over. The first phase will last next two years. After that, the second phase will begin in 2023. It will see the launch of the first series-production hybrid by the brand. The brand plans to have electric versions of each of its supercars available by the end of 2024. All these vehicles will have more carbon fibre than usual.

The third phase of Lamborghini’s new plan will start in the second half of this decade. It will include the launch of a fully electric supercar. Though the details of this first-ever electric supercar are scarce, it is reported that it will have four seats and two doors. The electric supercar can also be a completely brand-new vehicle.

Talking about the strategy that includes an electric supercar and hybrid models of existing vehicles, the CEO of Lamborghini, Stephan Winkelmann, said, “Lamborghini’s electrification plan is a newly plotted course, necessary in the context of a radically changing world, where we want to make our contribution by continuing to reduce environmental impact through concrete projects. Our response is a plan with a 360-degree approach, encompassing our products and our Sant ’Agata Bolognese location, taking us towards a more sustainable future while always remaining faithful to our DNA.”

The introduction of electric supercar and the launch of hybrid models is certainly something that will make Lamborghini more popular. In other news from the automotive industry, Dr. Michael Burry Reveals Massive Bet Against Tesla is gaining a lot of attention.
