Though people think that LeBron James might reach the end of his career in a few years, he is making new records when it comes to earning money. According to data, he might earn US$ 95.4 (AU$ 127.6) million this year, which is the highest ever for an NBA player and even the highest ever in American team sports.

LeBron James will become a billionaire

An analysis by Forbes, said “LeBron James is the NBA’s top-earning player for the seventh straight year, including off-court income – 2016-17 was the only season of his career James had the highest playing salary. “He’s expected to earn US$95.4 million (AU$127.6 million), including an estimated US$64 million (AU$85 million) from endorsements, memorabilia, and media. It is a record haul for an NBA player and the highest ever in American team sports.”

It also mentioned, “The historic year will push his career earnings to $1 billion – including US$700 million (AU$936.4 million) off the court. He joins Tiger Woods, Floyd Mayweather, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Lionel Messi in reaching the three-comma club while still an active athlete.”

LeBron James was born in Akron and was a basketball prodigy. It forced him to develop a business acumen when he was just a teenager. At the beginning of his career, he signed deals with Nike, Adidas, and Reebok.

Though LeBron James will have a 20% NBA salary cut due to the coronavirus-related revenue loss, he will still earn US$ 31.2 (AU$ 41.77) million this year. In addition to earning well on the NBA court, he is also making money from his businesses like part-ownership of Boston Red Sox or his Production Company start-up SpringHill Entertainment. The latter is launching Space Jam 2 with Warner Bros. When (or if) it becomes a hit, LeBron James might become a big name in the media industry.

He has also created Uninterrupted, a platform that allows athletes to speak their hearts out and has a huge investment in Blaze Pizza. LeBron James also has ownership in Ladder, a workout supplement manufacturer. In addition, his association with Nike, Walmart, Coca-Cola, GMC, and other brands generates huge money for him.
