Things further went south when Lewis Hamilton did not make any apology for being involved in the crash. After the replays of the race showed him nudging Max Verstappen away from the track while traveling at 128 Kmh, he received a 10-second penalty.

While Verstappen ended up crashing out, he was fortunate to not receive any serious injuries. He eventually got treatment at a hospital after getting a medical examination on the track.

After the race, Christian Horner, the Red Bull boss stated that Verstappen crashed hard, with a force equivalent to 51G. He further suggested Lewis Hamilton get penalized for the act.

More fuel was added to the fire later when Max Verstappen responded to a celebratory Instagram post by Lewis Hamilton. He stated, “First of all: I am glad I’m ok. It was quite an impact at 51G but feeling better.”

Max Verstappen further added, “The penalty given does not help us in any way and doesn’t do justice to the dangerous move Lewis made on the track. Watching the celebrations after the race while still in hospital is disrespectful and unsportsmanlike behavior but we move on.”

On the other hand, Horner continued to slam Lewis Hamilton regarding the dangerous move. According to him, Lewis Hamilton should accept all the blame. The Redbull boss added that the accident could have been a massive one.

He further suggested that it is not appropriate for a world champion to be maneuvering the vehicle the way he did.

However, Hamilton believes that Max Verstappen is at fault. Regarding this, the world champion stated, “I always try to be measured in how I approach, particularly with battling with Max Verstappen, he’s very aggressive. I do not feel like he needs to be as aggressive as he is.”

Over the next few days, Hamilton’s actions are surely going to become the centre of a massive debate both online and on television.
