At CES 2020, LG announced that the company had put the roll-up OLED TV into production. No one was surprised as the company had debuted the display as a concept two years back. Now, the company has proven that it sticks to its word by launching the LG Signature OLED R 4K TV that is currently available only in South Korea.

Earlier, it was being speculated that the roll-up OLED TV, which is not just another 4K TV will cost in high five figures. In January, the price of LG’s top tier 65-inch OLED TV was AUD 9,874. As per a recent update, the new roll-up OLED TV will cost around AUD 120,000 (USD 87,000).

For those who are unaware, the OLED technology not only includes crystal clear 4K images (hence it falls into the category of 4K TVs) due to the self-lighting pixel technology as well as the individual dimming control, it also has deep blacks and excellent contrasts. OLED technology also enables the creation of screens and displays which can be bent or rolled without any damage to them.

The LG Signature OLED R 4K TV can disappear into a brushed aluminium box which includes not just power supply but also has AV connections like 4.2 speaker setup with Dolby Atmos and HDMI 2.1. When the screen is retracted, the TV can work as a stereo. The screen can also be raised partially and used as an infotainment centre with weather or news updates. It can be even filled with a slideshow of your favourite photos and be the most expensive digital photo frame in the world.
