Loki episode 5 was a roller-coaster ride that kept us hooked from start to end. It had some strong emotional moments, some revelations, and some fun moments too. Here is everything that happened in the second to last episode of the popular Disney+ Marvel series. Warning! Spoilers ahead.

Loki episode 5

As expected, the episode starts with Loki waking up at the end of time and meeting other variants of himself, Classic Loki, Kid Loki, Boastful Loki, and Alligator Loki. They help him escape Alioth (the entity placed in the void to consume anyone who might dare to escape) and take him back to their lair. On the other hand, Loki episode 5  also shows us, Sylvie, trying to find about the TVA and learns that Loki might not be dead. When Ravonna tricks her and the guards corner her, Sylvie self-prunes and ends up at the end of time where Mobius saves her from Alioth after a dramatic car race.

Loki learns from other Lokis that all the variants were sent to the end of the world by the TVA for creating nexus events. Further in Loki episode 5, Loki shows some hero qualities and wants to go back and save Sylvie from the TVA. The other Lokis laugh at him. Just as he is about to leave, he encounters President Loki with a whole new group of Loki variants at the front door. (This scene reminds us of the Spider-verse)

It comes out that boastful Loki had betrayed the other variants for power, and President Loki betrays him after reaching their location. The group betrays President Loki, and a fight begins. Only the variant Loki, Classic Loki, Kid Loki, and Alligator Loki manage to avoid the fight. Not to stereotype Lokis, but this situation feels quite predictable given the fact that the scene is full of them.

Things turn more dramatic in Loki episode 5 as Loki convinces the other Lokis to help him kill Alioth. They reluctantly agree to offer some help even after seeing Alioth consume an entire battleship. Loki then meets Mobius and Sylvie, and it is clear that he misses them and wants to hug them both. After a while (and a cosy blanket moment between Loki and Sylvie), they decide that Mobius will go back to the TVA (to try to burn it to the ground), and Loki and Sylvie will try to kill Alioth to find out who is controlling the TVA.

The next few scenes of Loki episode 5 are are quite exciting… the action starts! Loki takes off to create a distraction so that Sylvie can enchant Alioth, but the enchantment did not work. What is effective is the massive Asgard illusion that Classic Loki creates, but causes him being absorbed by Alioth, but since he’s a Loki, he’s laughing all the way to oblivion. This time, Loki and Sylvie create an enchantment. Finally, they succeed at the end of Loki episode 5 and see a gateway to a strange mansion that possibly holds the answers they need. As expected, the episode ends on a cliff-hanger, and there is no mid-credits scene like last time.

A key takeaway of Loki episode 5 is that lives that are built upon betrayal and revenge will only lead to loneliness and unfulfilled purpose.

In other entertainment news, Hugh Jackman has teased the comeback of Wolverine.
