Though the ongoing coronavirus pandemic has altered the plans for several MCU film releases, there is some solace in the fact that MCU Phase IV has made an appearance on the small screen. After a much entertaining WandaVision and The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, MCU fans are eager to watch Loki, a TV series based on the mischievous character who has made an appearance in several MCU films.

If you are new to the MCU, you must see the first and last Avengers films to acquaint yourself with the character and understand what is going on in the TV series. The show will begin by replaying the relevant scene from Avengers: Endgame where Tony Stark dropped the Tesseract in front of Loki, who makes the most of the opportunity, grabs it, and disappears into thin air.

The MCU films did not explore what happened to Loki and the Tesseract as they found another way to get the Tesseract (by going back in time). So, no one spoke of where the God of Mischief, Loki, went and how it affected the timeline. However, the latest TV series shows exactly what happened to Tom Hiddleston’s character after he disappeared.

The TV series will show that he would be caught by the TVA, Time Variance Authority, an organization that aims to keep the timeline tidy and wants to get rid of any unexpected divergences from the “Sacred Timeline.” According to the TV series, The TVA was created by a bunch of timekeepers (who have not been introduced yet) who are responsible for maintaining a proper flow of time. How it works is quite confusing as per the first episode of the Loki TV series, as no one has explained the high-concept premise satisfactorily.

One key highlight of the show is Loki. Yes, the character is playful, manipulative, grandstanding, whose adventures keep fans glued to the screen. There might be multiple Loki’s in the TV series, which would only increase the fun. The show was released on Disney+ on June 9, Wednesday at 5 pm AEST.

In other entertainment news, just in case you missed it, the makers of The Boys Season 3 have unveiled the Soldier Boy and his new costume.
