It will be an animated feature and will focus on Helm Hammerhand, who is the ninth king of Rohan. It will also delve into the story of Helm’s Deep that bears the name of King Hammerhand.

Kenji Kamiyama will direct this addition to the Lord of the Rings franchise. The screenplay will be from Will Matthews and Jeffrey Addiss. Philippa Boyens will consult on the project too. A lot of importance is being given to this Lord of the Rings project by Warner Bros. Animation and New Line Cinema.

 

The voice casting and animation work for this new addition to the Lord of the Rings series has already begun. The animation work is being done at the studio Sola Entertainment. This is a dream come true for the fans of The Lord of the Rings trilogy, as the Battle of Helm’s Deep is undoubtedly the best action sequence that took place in the entire trilogy. It is also one of the best large-scale battles that have ever been put to the big screen.

Animation head Sam Register said. “We’re honoured to partner with much of the incredible talent behind both film trilogies, along with new creative luminaries to tell this story. And so it begins.”

He began as an animator in classic films like Jin-Roh: The Wolf Brigade and Akira. You might also know him as the director of Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex.
