Mark Zuckerberg’s Facebook, Instagram and Whatsapp were down earlier.

The worldwide Facebook outage led the entire world to question the platform’s security. Upon hearing the news, social media users began speculating whether Facebook was gone for good. People also talked about the amount of money that Mark Zuckerberg would possibly be losing because of the outage.

It turns out that he has lost a total of $7 Billion USD (AUD $9.6 Billion). Now, Mark Zuckerberg has a net worth of $121.6 Billion USD. This means that he is still the fifth richest man in the world. However, the amount is still lower than it used to be.

Overall, Mark Zuckerberg got his net worth reduced by $19 billion USD after several allegations got raised against the social media platform. For instance, Frances Haugen alleged that Facebook amplifies misinformation on the platform based on some internal research.

Social media platforms of Mark Zuckerberg suffered global outages.

Based on Downdetector reports, Instagram outages have hit 76000 while Facebook outages peak at 86000. After the outage, the official account of Facebook stated on Twitter, “We’re aware that some people are having trouble accessing our apps and products.”

Aside from a reduction in the net worth of Mark Zuckerberg, the outage has also resulted in the social media platform’s stock falling by 4.9%. While the global outage has certainly caused the stocks to plummet, it is not the only reason for the reducing popularity of Facebook.

Since September, the company has lost millions of dollars. For instance, other than the internal data leak, Frances Haugen also talked to the ’60 Minutes’. She talked about how Facebook puts its “profits over people” and does not care enough about the employees.

All platforms owned by Mark Zuckerberg had to make announcements on Twitter. Later, a screenshot started circulating on Twitter displaying DNS concerns for Facebook based on a lookup result.

This led to people wondering whether Facebook will ever return. However, it was nothing but an overreaction. All the hysteria and the memes that followed were short-lived.

For the most part, Mark Zuckerberg and his team have succeeded in re-instating the services. Most of the user profiles on WhatsApp, Instagram, and Facebook would normally be working now.

However, much of the damage is already done in terms of users’ trust and stock value. Hence, the company sure has several challenges to face in the future.
