MB&F is a brand based in Geneva, known for its spectacular timepieces. For instance, the MB&F HM3 Frog which was released in 2010 which had two globular eyes-like displays. Labeled as a three-dimensional watch, the two displays featured a dome rotating underneath a marker.

The shape of these domes is designed to replicate the eyes of an amphibian such as a Frog. And that is where this MB&F watch gets its name, ‘HM3 Frog’. Well, just recently, the company released the 10th-anniversary edition of this legendary watch, called MB&F HM3 Frog X.

The new edition of this watch is even better than the original in terms of its appearance. This watch is made of sapphire crystal, which makes it transparent. At the same time, the amphibian eyes-like display ftells the hours and minutes with thin aluminum domes with markers on top of it.

Along with that, the new MB&F HM3 FrogX also glows in the dark thanks to its dramatic Super-LumiNova accents. Which further makes it look peculiar but at the same time interesting.

According to the founder of Maximilian Büsser, “There is something incredibly weird and at the same time enticing to rework a product that was created 10 years back.”

This watch also features a Girard-Perregaux base on top of which the movement is made. And that is created by Jean-Marc Wiederrecht, a popular watchmaker. At the same time, the design of its winding crown is a result of a collaboration between Rayform (a swiss form) and MB&F.

The resulting technology from this collaboration redirects the rays of light into different images. So, if the angle is right, the crown of the watch displays a secret message: a battleax rotor image.

The founder of MB&F further added, “Ten years of getting out of my comfort zone, of fun, of craziness separate the original from this anniversary piece. Growing up without really growing up and moving the creative goalposts way further. So what has changed? A full sapphire case, a ‘mega’ three-part rotor, a lot of lume and the light reflection secret signature created by the young Rayform team.”

MB&F’s HM3 FrogX is now available in three limited editions of 10 timepieces each, with matching rotor, gasket and Super-LumiNova in blue, purple or turquoise. It retails for U$152,000 (approximately, A$209,000).
