Michael C. Hall and Clyde Phillips Set to Return a Limited Series of Dexter

Dexter was a favourite serial killer for most people from 2006 to 2013. Now, the show will be back as a limited-time series. What’s better is that Michael C. Hall and showrunner Clyde Phillips will also be back. For those who are unaware, the show followed Hall, a titular forensic technician who helped solve crimes and worked as a serial killer to eliminate people that represent the worst of humanity. The show was quite popular on Showtime, it had 13 Primetime Emmy nominations and had eight seasons.
The open-ended final episode of Dexter, Remember the Monsters left scope for the comeback of the show. It showed Dexter faking his own death and then living a quiet life as a lumberjack. Showtime will air 10 episodes of Dexter 9 with Hall and Phillips back to their respective roles. Phillips had left the show after the 4th season, so his comeback is as exciting as Hall’s comeback for many fans.
In addition to Hill, Sara Colleton, Scott Reynolds, John Goldwyn, and Bill Carraro will also serve as Executive producers for Dexter Season 9. It will be a continuation of the original show, and the production might start in early 2021.

Gary Levine, the Showtime Entertainment president Gary Levine said this about the show “Dexter is such a special series, both for its millions of fans and for Showtime, as this breakthrough show helped put our network on the map many years ago. We would only revisit this unique character if we could find a creative take that was truly worthy of the brilliant, original series. Well, I am happy to report that Clyde Phillips and Michael C. Hall have found it, and we can’t wait to shoot it and show it to the world.”
Likely, a few characters that survived at the end of the original series might be back for this season. No official announcements have been made yet. Dexter Season 9 might also feature Harrison, Dexter’s grown son. Keep checking this page for more updates in the next few months.
