Morbius trailer: Everything You Should Know About Marvel’s Morbius
Jared Leto is Spider-Man’s twelfth-most popular bad guy in the upcoming Sony film.
Morbius trailer—Are you a fan of both vampires and comic books? Well then, Morbius is the movie that you should look forward to. Based on the comic books by Marvel, the movie is making its way to the cinema in 2022. And it is worth all the excitement.
The plot of the comics revolves around Dr. Michael Morbius, who ends up turning himself into a vampire due to a biochemical experiment accident. Rather than getting his rare blood disease cured, the doctor turns into a vampire.
Now in the comic books, Morbius is one of the major enemies of Spider-Man. However, eventually, the vampire ended up getting his own spin-off. As far as the movie goes, Sony has confirmed that the movie will follow the comic origins of the character.
Interestingly, Sony has already released a trailer for Morbius with Jared Leto as the lead cast. Other than that, we see Matt Smith from The Crown and Adria Arjona from 6 Underground. With that, Jared Harris, Tyrese Gibson, and Al Madrigal will also be joining him.
For those who are wondering why Morbius isn’t under Marvel Studios, it’s all due to the licensing agreements for different characters. For instance, Sony owns Spider-Man rights and several other characters associated with the web-slinging superhero.
On the other hand, Marvel carries the rights to all the other MCU characters. Though, both studios have a mutual agreement on certain characters. While other characters strictly remain in the domain of their associated studio.
Similarly, Sony currently has the rights to Morbius even though the character is based on Marvel comics. We might as well get to see a cross-over between Venom and Morbius in the future since both characters exist in the same Sony’s universe.
While the film was expected to release much earlier, the date got pushed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Currently, the film will arrive in theatres in Australia on 20th January 2022. Its release in the US is also scheduled on the same date.
