As Daredevil is now officially a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Disney+ is moving forward with a new series. There is no official word on whether Charlie Cox will reprise his role or someone else will be starring in the show. It is confirmed that Matt Corman and Chris Ord have been signed on to write and executive produce the revival Daredevil series.

Daredevil series

Charlie Cox first starred as a blind lawyer Matt Murdock, and vigilante Daredevil in the eponymous Netflix show that Drew Goddard developed. The Daredevil show helped launch some other shows informally known as the Marvel Knights series. Such shows were Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, Iron Fist, The Punisher, and The Defenders. All of these held loose ties to the MCU.

Daredevil on Netflix got rave reviews from viewers and critics. The performances of Cox as the titular character and Vincent D’Onofrio as the villainous Wilson Fisk/Kingpin, and Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle/The Punisher were highly praised. As Marvel Studios’ and Netflix’s deal ended in 2018, all MCU shows were cancelled.

Disney+ has officially entered development on the new show. It is not confirmed whether Cox will reprise his role in the Disney+ series, but we think it’s likely given his appearance in Spider-Man: No Way Home. His popularity among the fans as the Man Without fear also makes it likely that he will reprise his role in the Disney+ series.

Cox has previously teased that future plans were in the works for his Daredevil. He even shared his own ideas on what should come next for the character. Cox shared he wanted a soft reboot offering less violent material. He also expressed hope that Frank Miller’s “Born Again” comic storyline should be adapted.

Another sign that says Cox might be returning as Daredevil is that costume designer Stacy Caballero recently revealed that Cox and D’Onofrio would be there in Disney+’s Echo, which recently entered production. While you wait for further details about the show, you can watch the first three seasons of Daredevil now streaming on Disney+.
