Premier Gladys Berejiklian recently announced that NSW-Vic border would open later this month. Here is a list of things you should know about this change.

What is the Date of Opening of NSW-Vic Border?

The border will be opened on 23 November. It will allow people from either side of the border to travel between the two states freely.

What About Quarantine?

You do not need to go into quarantine or arrange a permit to travel between these states from November 23. Before November 23, people who are from NSW were allowed to travel to Victoria, but they were required to quarantine once they re-entered unless they had a permit that exempted them.

Should I Travel to Victoria or NSW After NSW-Vic Border Reopens?

You should stay in your state if it is not necessary to travel to another state when NSW-Vic border reopens. NSW has reported three new COVID-19 cases that were locally transmitted. Each of these was linked to the Hoxton Park cluster. Similarly, Victoria has not reported a new case of community transmission in five days. NSW Premier has noted that Victoria “may have, because of the lockdown, actually gone down a path of having eliminated it [COVID-19] at this point in time”.

However, it would help if you remembered that while official health recommendations say that the risk is minimal, we are dealing with a deadly pandemic and there are no guarantees of anything. So, even if you want to opt for inter-state travel once the NSW-Vic border opens up, make sure you take precautions like wearing a mask, using a sanitizer, checking in wherever you go and making use of the COVIDSafe app

As per different sources, the opening up of NSW-Vic border date is set up as something that resembles a national heads up that notifies all the people of the country that now they are allowed to reunite with family, make holiday plans, choose domestic travel and help the economy. If you want to do the same, remember to take all the precautions and do not overindulge and risk your health & well-being.
