Volvo’s electric car, Polestar 2, is expected to arrive in Australia early in 2022. Its pricing matched the pricing of the Tesla Model 3. It will have non-negotiable fixed prices and can be bought via online sales. You will need to shell out extra for advanced safety technology.

The 2022 Polestar 2 has ensured that the price of standard models falls under the $3000 threshold tax rebates that are offered by the Victorian and NSW governments. The pricing of the new electric car seems competitive. Its pricing starts from $59,990 and goes as high as $69,990. It does not include on-road costs that you also need to cover.

The 2022 Polestar 2 will charge a premium for offering advanced safety features. The equipment listed in Polestar option packs costs between $5000 and $8000.

Polestar Australia has stated that option packs are offered globally, and the safety features were not removed to ensure that the tax rebate threshold can be met. It said that the extra cost safety features were designed to ensure that the Polestar 2 price was more accessible to customers all over the world and to ensure that the purchase process was as easy as possible. It was done to avoid endless configurations and options.

A few standard safety equipment on all 2022 Polestar 2 models are autonomous emergency braking, eight airbags, speed-sign recognition, and lane-keeping assistance. The vehicle has earned a five-star safety rating by Euro NCAP.

The 2022 Polestar 2 does not have important safety aids like a blind-zone warning, adaptive cruise control, and rear cross-traffic alert. For those, you need to pay $5,000 extra and get a Pilot option pack. The car will have single motor variants and front-wheel drive.

The all-wheel-drive Polestar 2 Long Range Dual Motor is the most expensive variant that has a built-in Google infotainment system and vegan upholstery. It also allows the owners to complete routine maintenance upgrades via Wi-Fi (remotely).

In addition to the Pilot Pack, potential buyers can also pick a Plus Pack that costs $6000 or a Performance Pack that costs $8000. The three models of the new Polestar are covered by a five-year/unlimited-kilometre warranty. The battery packs come with an eight-year/160,000km warranty. Deliveries in Australia to begin in early 2022.
