Though PS5 has been released more than a year back, it is still hard to find it in stores. It seems that the supply woes of Sony are going to get worse, which means that the console will be harder to get.

According to reports from Bloomberg, Sony has lowered the production targets to 15 million from 16 million units for the fiscal year that will end in March 2022. Previously, the company had a sales target of US$ 14.8 million. This target would be harder to achieve as the supply is constrained.

 

Previously, Sony CFO, Hiroki Totoki, shared that shortages and supply issues have begun to worsen in an investor call. Totoki added that further restrictions levied due to the COVID-19 pandemic will impact PS5 production.

 

Even with supply troubles, PS5 has become the fastest-selling console of Sony. About 10 million units were sold in July. It might signify that Sony is facing the problem of super high demand and limited production capacity. The rise in demand could be due to the fact that a greater number of people are confined at home and are looking for new forms of entertainment.
