Red Notice Unites Big Hollywood Stars for an Expensive Misfire

Netflix’s biggest action film is a bit generic.

Red Notice is among the most expensive movies Netflix has ever created. With a budget of over $200 million, it is perhaps the highest-priced project by the streaming service to date. After all, the film features a trio of A-list actors – Dwayne Johnson, Gal Gadot, and Ryan Reynolds.

Basically, Red Notice will remind you of certain movies from the past. This would include any generic movie featuring Rock, such as San Andreas, Faster, Jumanji series, and Skyscraper. However, as far as the reviews of the film go, other than the star power, the movie has nothing to offer out of the box.

From the very first minute, the film looks like it will offer diminishing returns. And as it goes on, that becomes more apparent. Unfortunately, it spans a total of 117 minutes featuring bland dialogue, witless dialogue exchange, and action sequences that look quite lifeless.

Written and directed by Rawson Marshall Thurber, Red Notice could have offered a lot more than what it currently does. However, on the bright side, we have three A-list stars in the film. The charm that Gal Gadot, Ryan Reynolds, and Dwayne Johnson offer is perhaps the only thing one would want to watch this movie for.

Nevertheless, that the film is nothing but a shameless endeavour because it took around $200 million (USD). But what exactly went wrong with the film? Well, it is not about the stars themselves. The main cast has played exceptional roles.

However, in the bigger picture, Red Notice comes off less like a movie and more as a product that is lifeless and is only designed to make quick money off the cast. More so, one could say that the movie is entirely pointless. Overall, Red Notice has turned out to be one of those movies worth sleeping through.

Perhaps, if the dialogues were better and we did not have to see overdressed actors in phony sets with better action sequences, the film could have received better reviews. In the end, Red Notice is the most expensive Netflix project but, ironically, also the least enthusiastic one.
