Steven Spielberg Quits-Indiana Jones 5 to Get a New Director

Steven Spielberg has stepped down from the role of director of Indiana Jones 5. The reason for his decision is quite clear and logical. Here you can know why he quit the role and who’s expected to fill in the role.

The fans have been waiting for Indiana Jones 5 for a couple of years now. It has been in development since 2013 when Disney regained the full rights to the franchise from Paramount. The film faced several issues in pre-production and has been delayed many times already. It also underwent many script rewrites to ensure that the story was right.

Despite the ups and downs, Spielberg, the creator of Amazing Stories, has been associated with Indiana Jones 5. He has also been gearing up to reunite with Harrison Ford (Indiana Jones) for this project. Recently, the director decided to step down as helmsman and rumours say that Ford v Ferrari and Logan director James Mangold will be taking over the crucial responsibility.

The decision taken by Spielberg regarding Indiana Jones 5 came as a surprise for many as Spielberg has had an amazing history with the President of Lucasfilm, Kathleen Kennedy. They both have made films together for decades. This parting of ways is not good news for Lucasfilm as the production company has already been criticized for cycling through creatives. It had parted ways with several directors associated with Star Wars films already.

Talking about his decision to step down as the Director of Indiana Jones 5, Spielberg told Variety that he quit the role out of “a desire to pass along Indy’s whip to a new generation and bring their perspective to the story.” It must be noted here that he will be associated with the film as a producer and will also be available to serve as a sounding board for the new director, whether its Mangold or not.

The probability is high that Mangold will accept the role of Indiana Jones 5 director despite a full plate. He’s got several ongoing projects already such as The Force but Indiana Jones is a project that he might not be able to refuse.
