The next Stüssy x Nike Air Force 1 will soon be here. Stüssy has taken on the Oregon-based sports giant’s Air Force 1 for the third time. Read on to know more about the collab and the craze for it.

Legendary Nike designer Bruce Kilgore designed the Air Force 1. It was the first basketball shoe that used the patented Air technology of Nike. It was introduced in 1982, discontinued in 1984, and re-released in 1985. The re-released version of Nike’s shoes had a sleeker run and a very modern Swoosh. They became a go-to for teenagers in the ’90s and have been produced in over 1,700 colour variations in 40 years.

Air Force 1 is also one of the most popular products by Nike. They even have a song dedicated to them. Y2K rapper Nelly dedicated “Air Force Ones” to them in 2002. It was also the top-selling footwear design in 2021. It successfully generated more than $1.4 billion in 12 months.

Now, Stüssy is breathing new life into the sneakers. The label has worked for Nike for more than 20 years. The first collab of the brands was in 2000. Both the brands have collaborated in 2020 and 2021 too. In 2020, Stüssy came up with Stüssy AFI, that were constructed from Hemp cotton. In 2021, recycled versions of the sneakers were released.

The collab has been teased on Stüssy’s social media channels for many months. Only one iteration of the design featuring snakeskin Swooshes, a black and white colourway, and the company’s branding on the heel, Velcro straps, tongue, and the toe box has been revealed.

The good news for sneakerheads is that they won’t have to wait long for the latest drop of the Stüssy x Nike Air Force 1. Stüssy has confirmed via its official Instagram account that the new sneakers will go on sale on May 13, 2022 (in less than ten days!). It is expected that the sneakers will fly off the shelves as soon as they are launched. Every pair of kicks from these brands have sold out within minutes in the past.
