Subaru has unveiled the new STI E-RA concept at Tokyo Auto Salon, and car enthusiasts are amazed by it. This Subaru concept is an all-electric hyper car that will probably destroy many records. It has four electric motors that pack 800 kW of power. One motor supports one wheel.

The Subaru STI E-RA also has four-wheel torque vectoring and a 60-kilowatt-hour lithium-ion battery pack. The company worked with Yamaha to develop the car.

The main reason why the brand built the Subaru STI E-RA concept is obvious. It wants the road track fighter to set some fast lap times around the Nürburgring Nordschleife. In addition to that, the new concept is also a testbed for the company as it explores modern technologies, batteries, and electric motors.

With Subaru STI E-RA, the company wants to hit the 6:40 mark around the Nürburgring. It’s impressive because it’s just 400 seconds.

The honour of EV record around the ring belongs to Volkswagen ID R. It set a 6:05 lap time in 2019. Subaru wants to test the STI E-RA at Japanese circuits throughout 2022 before it heads to Germany in 2023.

In addition to the Subaru STI E-RA, the company also unveiled the Solterra STI Concept. It is based on the all-electric Solterra SUV. There are no details about performance upgrades the STI might have, but it is likely that the car will have a few exterior changes. Sadly, the plastic cladding is still there.

The setup of the Subaru STI E-RA follows guidelines for the future FIA E-GT regulations. The company stated that it was the best direction to work in. It might mean that Subaru might go racing with its own E-RA. It will be a huge step for the Japanese company in a completely new direction if that happens.

What do you think of the all-new Subaru STI E-RA? Will it be a significant change for the brand, or will it be a disappointment?
