As the coronavirus cases rise in the country, Sydney New Year’s Eve plans are badly impacted. Here is what you can and cannot do depending on where you live.

How Many Visitors Can I Have at Home for New Year’s Eve?

If you are in Greater Sydney, which includes Central Coast, Wollongong, and the Blue Mountains, you should know that household gatherings will be limited to five visitors only and it includes children. The limit for outdoor gatherings is 30, which was earlier 50.

What are the New COVID Restrictions on Northern and Southern Zones of Northern Beaches?

People who are in the northern zone of Northern Beaches areas need to stay at home. Indoor gatherings will not be allowed. People will be allowed to leave their homes only if they need to travel for work or education, shop for essentials, need to exercise or need healthcare or other care-related reasons.

However, the people in the southern zone of Northern Beaches will be allowed to have five visitors into their homes if they are from the same zone. It includes children as well. NSW Health is asking all the people to stay at home as much as possible to minimize the spread of COVID-19 in the community.

Cricket is Still On

Though Sydney New Year’s Eve plans have been ruined for many people, the SCG test will go ahead. It is yet to be decided whether the Queensland government will allow the fourth test in Brisbane or not. Crowds will be capped at just 50 per cent.

The tough decisions that ruined the Sydney New Year’s Eve plans for many people come after New South Wales recorded 18 new cases of COVID-19 overnight and it includes a new cluster that is not linked to the initial outbreak in Avalon so far.

As the new cluster of Croydon is not linked to the ongoing outbreak in the northern beaches, Premier Gladys Berejiklian stated that it was of a lot of concern to the government.

Another reason for decisions that harmed Sydney New Year’s Eve plans was that nine new cases were reported that belong to the Northern Beaches cluster. Three new cases were unveiled on Tuesday, and they will be added to today’s count. After that, the total would be 18.

The negative impact on Sydney New Year’s Eve plans due to these restrictions is another blow for people who wanted to start 2021 on a positive note. These restrictions are in addition to the recent border restrictions announced by many states. We feel that these restrictions would probably continue until we get a COVID-19 vaccine.

Were you among the people whose Sydney New Year’s Eve plans were ruined due to the new restrictions?
